Tips by Mary RC, Backcombing like a pro VLOG #01

OKAY how silly was that? I could have dressed up for the occasion, ya think? Also, I think I sound just like those silly teenagers, I'm just too old to act like that. Anywhoo here are my favorite backcombing products I'd like to share with you. Warning I'm a bit old school...

Shaper, oh yes what I like to call glorified Aqua Net! I recommend regular Shaper for backcombing, works great the only thing is, if you breathe too much of it your nose hairs stick together and break off.

As I said in the vlog, this is one of my new faves, Elnett. You can find it at Target for around $15. What I like about it is that you can comb through it easily if you need to, and I've yet to see flaky build up.
And this my friends is what I have deemed the proper backcomb. I buy mine at Sally's beauty supply. They also have them as a full comb without the parting tip, and they're only a few bucks. With this particular style of comb, I find there is less breakage than there is with a rat tail comb, that comb with the weapon on the end and hair breaking bristles, they are great for sectioning and working on wigs. But wigs don't care if you damage them.

What do you think should I keep on Vlogging? What would you like to see? Jessica from Without a Place wants some help shopping for RED lipstick. Wouldn't it be funny to see us at the mall quizzing beauty advisers? Probably get kicked out for filming..

You are so cute! Ok- I keep trying to watch it, but it keeps stopping & the little ball the goes around & around in the middle. Over & over. I have it paused right now to see if it needs to catch up or something. But I have only gotten maybe a minute into it..
But you are still SO Cute!!

Love the Vlog! I don't leave home without my "Poof" comb from sally's...I have one in hot pink, blue, and silver :) Also I love Big & Sexy's Root spray...If you put it in just showered hair, then blow dry upside down, then back comb aka poof, if produces some large hair! My philosophy has always been "The bigger the hair, the closer to Jesus!" Thanks for following me!

I love this! I didn't know about sectioning. Paige always wants me to backcomb her hair and now I'm so excited because I'll be able to do it right. Hooray! You must do more of these. Share that talent because I need help!
You are so cute! So yeah, I think you've convinced us all that we can do it! It looks so easy, and good when it's done, and "that's how people get that look?" and I can't believe her hair went from that big to the finished smooth product! Good job on your first video!

I love the VLOG!!! I would love to see you and Jessica scouring the mall for red lipstick, my tummy hurts just thinking about it!!!
You're so stinking cute, were you talking? Did you say something? Was there a lesson? Something to do with hair maybe...

Do something with coarse, thick, long, curly hair whydontchya? Nobody does coarse, thick, long, curly hair.
Wah.
(I'll watch whatever you do. I love beauty tips.)
You vlogged! Good job.

LOVE it! It's all the questions I've wanted to ask someone, but was afraid of looking stupid (or at least not very cool). Thanks!

That was really insightful! I am one of those "crazy teenagers" who likes to have it super huge and everywhere-i never smooth it out over the top cuz that ruins the messy effect. But I did have a question about the hair care aspect of it. Obviously, i can try to be gentle and use the right comb/hairspray, but my hair is bright purple and has been for five years and so i need to take extra good care of it. I know the "best thing" would be to not backcomb it, but my hair has managed to stay in very good condition so i'm betting it can handle it. But any tips regarding leave in conditioners (or products that work together with backcombing, thereby allowing one to do less of it) would be awesome. Thanks!
