SPT #14 Movies

"Lelly's October SPT Theme is the following....
"this month, we will consult our 100 lists. it's quite simple, really. on the 7th of the month. post an spt about item #7 on your list. on the 14th of the month, post an spt about item #14. and so on. and so on."

14. I am a movie snob. The industry has jaded me, one small flaw in the script, makeup, continuity, art direction.... and that is all I can focus on... I appreciate a movie well made.

Casino Royal 007 James Bond.. All I could watch was the main actresses bleeding lipstick and inconsistent smokey runny eyemakeup, ruined the whole movie for me..

10000 BC .... okay at least get an actress with real blue eyes and brown hair. Her contacts were painfully obvious and her overdrawn eyebrows looked stenciled on at times. And I love Steven Strait, but the pearly white teeth in this movie killed me. Every actor had veneers... Eragon-I could ramble for hours about this horrid movie. I LOVE the books, and this script was pathetic, the art direction was low budget and obviously zero research was done. This character Arya is an elf, who is a warrior with pointed ears, ebony hair and clad in black leather with a wispy yet deadly bow. EXCUSE ME-round ears, red hair, a boney weapon and a freakin DRESS for crying out loud. Every time she was on the screen I wanted to get up and leave the theatre it was so bad, but my kids were there. Oh and there is a MAJOR spoiler in the movie as well!

Anyway this gives you an idea of how I watch a movie. I could rake on many more but I shall quit here.

Needless to say I do not own many movies. My kids and husband give me books and movies on special occasions, so I don't run out and randomly buy my favorites, unless it is a new release book that I cannot wait to read. I have yet to be gifted my favorite movie of all time "Gone With the Wind". My list really isn't very long. I prefer to only own movies I can enjoy time and time again without getting sick of it. There are many movies that are so very well made that affect me so much I cannot watch them again, like Titanic, Unfaithful, Shindlers List, The Color Purple etc. Here we have my lofty selection of movies that for me are pure entertainment.Knights Tale (cute boy period love story and great music), Count of Monte Cristo (very well made, even for an adaptation), I Love You to Death (hilarious performances way overlooked flick), Three Musketeers (cute boys, adventure, sword fighting and Alexandre Dumas, what a soup), Wizard of Oz (but of course)

Tell me... What is your favorite movie... and your least favorite, and tell me why?

Too funny! I love all your movie pics, but I am not as picky as you either...this was a funny spt!

I'm the opposite, I'm easily entertained by almost any movie. With that said, my absolute favorite movie is "The Saint". I can watch that one over and over again. It's very entertaining :) Thanks for sharing your favorites, I like them all, except I've never seen "I love you to death". I'll have to check it out.

Interesting how knowledge can alter the way we look at certain things.

I am critical of movies for other reasons. I very much dislike predictability or plots that follow the same formula. For that reason it's very difficult for me to state a favorite! I've always loved The Blues Brothers though.

I do the same thing and it ruins movies for me, too! Except, mine are mostly finding editing errors. I have found editing errors in great movies such as ET, Lord of the Rings, and (not in the same class, but...) Twister. The list goes on, but those are the ones I can recall right now. That's too funny that you are picky, too. Guess I'm not the only crazy one in the world! Ha ha!

My favorite movie is Gone With the Wind, too! LOVE it and I totally get it!

You are so funny! I was watching a movie the other day and the editing was so bad it ruined the movie for me. I don't watch many movies anymore, and sadly I can't even think of my favorite one. In high school it was "Say Anything." I had a big crush on Jon Cusack.

Too funny. I guess I spend too much time just trying to stay awake during a movie.

Ya know I love movies with growing up with my brother! It is so hard to pick a favorite. It really depends on the mood & all that..
Ya know the last R movie we saw were "Green Mile" & "Patriot" when they were in the theatre.. And I loved both of them. And there hasn't been a R movie I have even cared to see since then.
I love Elf because it cracks me up. I love Suspense movies & love stories. I love all that you have too..

I am not picky when it comes to watching movies! I must say when I have to pay to watch a movie I see things with a certain theme. I never pay for science fiction (I just don't like it) and Army fighting movies, not wasting my money. Otherwise it all depends on the trailer. Favorite movie (only because I have kids and see mostly kid movies when I go out) is Toy Story, it is so cute and cleaver!

You crack me up. I'm very critical of movies too. I think it drives Rick crazy. I like strong emotions in a movie. Make me laugh or cry really hard and I'm happy. But they better mind their P's and Q's because I like you spot flaws very easily.
Oh Mary! I would LOVE to go to a movie with you. You would be soooo enlightening!

Hmmmm. I'm trying to think of my favorite and worst movie. I'm going to have to think more.

I learn more things through blogs....thanks for your insights!
I forgot to say how much I loved your SPT take on this because I was so fascinated with your post!

Good job!

I so agree with you on Eragon. Could not stand the movie. My favorite movies are more simple- While you were sleeping, Sweet Home Alabama, You've got mail. Sweet Love stories. I did enjoy a Knights tale!

My favorite movie right now is Mamma Mia...I love musicals and that was really well made in my opinion. I can't stop singing all the songs :)
My least favorite would be.....I can't really remember right now, but I'm pretty easy going about it!
Great SPT!

That's interesting--sometimes unusual things others might not notice can turn me off to a certain movie too. If their editing or continuity is off...trouble.

I have too many on my favortes list, it depends what mood I'm in.
Love your choice of criticisms.

Chris is a fan of A Knight's Tale as well. It's just plain fun. I personally cannot think of a "favorite" movie right now. Hmmm... I did watch Sweet Home Alabama while giving laboring/giving birth to Avery.

You are so funny Mary! We SOOO need to go to a movie soon! I cannot even watch movies with constantly thinking of things going wrong...mostly with continuity. Then, I miss half the movie! UGH!

I love wedding crashers. I think that movie is just so funny. I guess I like movies that you don't really have to think much! I LOVE 13 going on 30. I'm a dork I know!

BTW...hopefully you remembered that I booked you to work on Oct 30? (Thursday). It's for about 7 hours I think. Is that still cool?
