Luxurious, Diary of a Makeup Artist #20

I'm a pretty lucky local girl here in Vegas. I have a wonderful client by the name of Beth, Editor of Luxury, Las Vegas. Beth is a great chick and has a super fun job. She writes and experiences all the luxury Vegas has to offer. Her stories are so cool to read and working with her is even better. I do have to shout out to Tanya the publisher as well, this chica has great taste. I've done many covers and fashion spreads for Luxury over the last 3 or 4 years, they're always alot of work but worth it. My favorite thing is that these lovely Luxury ladies have come to trust me and give me alot of free reign and creativity. Here is what we did in honor of 9/9/09.
The theme was dressed to the nines. Tanya wanted an exotic ethnic model and Natalie Haddad was the perfect girl.

I was so NOT in the mood to do curly American Idol hair, which is all the rave these days. Since Natalie has such amazing healthy hair I wanted to show it off, so I went with styles on the straight side.

Of course I backcombed her locks as well.

As far as makeup, I went for the smokey eye, strong cheeks and nude matte lips. I saw it on the runway recently and loved it, feels appropriate for the upcoming fall season.

This was a 9 page spread, yes 9 different looks! Lemme tell you 9 looks isn't easy in one day, let alone 8 hours. Our location was the Encore property, and various locations within. Believe you me, if Natalie hadn't given good face, we'd have been there 14 hours easily. In this industry a great model is a godsend. I think Linda Evangelista deserves every penny she gets. Every shot of her is stunning, no matter what she wears, where she's at and what lighting there is, she delivers.
I cant tell you how many times I've worked with a pretty girl who couldn't deliver to the camera. It makes for a pain staking day on the job. ANTM aint kidding.

I give kudos to Christian Dior for cosmetics and Kiehl's for hair care. Did you get your copy of Luxury?

She is beautiful - she has you to (partially at least) thank for that. I know you try to present your job as 'just a job' and mundane - but it really is awfully cool...

You have to tell me what you use for the nude matte lips. I've been wanting to go with this look for awhile but I need to know what products work the best. Do tell. Pretty please. I'm just so proud of your talent you'd think I was your mama. So proud!
