Monster Mash!

This last week was just that, a huge monster mashin up my life. But I don't mind, I love this monster, it brings me spooky joy and creativity. The Halloween Monster happens to one that I welcome into my home every year. I count the days until October 1st so I can put up my decor and spook out. It's also time to plan the Halloween Bash. But somehow this October came very fast and the days have slipped by. This year we couldn't find time to do a special Halloween invite shoot. Our schedules just didn't jive. And we didn't have time for a finger making luncheon, and without Amy this year it seemed fitting to just make the pointers myself.
I use morton's salt dough recipe for these beauties. (great for school projects too I might add) I shape and sculpt them by hand. I could only get 80 of them done this year and it took me much longer than the first year when I made only 30. Here they are all decked out.

Here is the invite we pair them with. We tie them to door knobs. I like giving people the finger.
Every year the finger is a new design. They are really quite collectible. This year makes #5 so we have a full hand.Earlier this week the Monster came crashing down in the garage. My costume rack collapsed and there were costumes all over the place. I took this as an opportunity to open the costume shop since I had to fix the rack anyway. I sent out emails and text messages to friends telling them to come grab a costume while the grabbin was good.
Looks like the Halloween Monster threw up in my living room. Well I managed to lend out 12 get ups and there are still more to loan out. People think I'm kidding when I tell them I have an arsenal of costumes.
Not dressing up for Halloween just isnt an option in my book. I am a creative person to the bone. If its not creative I'm really not interested. It stems from both sides of my family and I feel blessed to have it my blood. Halloween is an opportunity for fun, expression and imagination. For me it just doesnt get any better than that.

This crazy October also put me behind in the costume deciding and making department. This is a piece of Mike's costume, he's gonna be a black sheep. My friend Jason over at Time After Time Designs is hooking me up with a fancy Bo Peep costume. And with him at the machine, I know its gonna rock! Can't wait to party it up on Friday. One of the things I had to give up when we moved, was my costume closet.
I took it all to the extremely talented Tim Nelson in Southern CA.
He is the man to turn to when putting on Variety Shows to raise money!

I was just telling Rick that he and I should fly over for the party but that takes money so I guess we're gonna have to miss it again. So sad.

I heart Halloween, we attended an insane party this past weekend which was totally impromtu, since we did not have time to costume shop, we pulled out our costume bins and had at it...I must admit it was fabulous! I thought I was a kitten all night with the ears, tail and a bowtie, what kitty wears a bowtie? Until the dreadful moment, my sister corrected me and said your ears are rounded your a mouse...this would only happen to me! I was the sassiest mouse anyone has ever seen!

Smooches,
Sassy Chica

Can't wait to see the pics!

Very creative pieces. I'm not that into Halloween, but I know a good costume when I see one. Thanks for visiting my blog.

I love the fingers! How very creative. A crack up, too. It must be nice to give people "the finger".
